Ebay Buyers Beware: Bad Experience Purchasing from Accuniverse

I bought a couple of cell phones on Ebay from Accuniverse. Well, they didn't work as indicated in the item descriptions. I sent several emails to Accuniverse and filled out their Return Merchandise Authorization forms to return the cell phones for a refund for both. Well, they took forever to refund my money, and I almost never got the money for the second phone. Accuniverse was terrible about responding to emails in a timely fashion, and I got sick of their lack of response, so I took some necessary action to get their attention. I filed a complaint with Paypal. It wasn't until I filed a complaint with Paypal that Accuniverse quickly responded. When I got the rest of my money back, I left Accuniverse neutral feedback--neither positive or negative--because although the items didn't work properly, they did give me back all of my money, so I felt it was appropriate to leave neutral feedback. Well, after I sent the feedback, Accuniverse did a little number on me.

Accuniverse left me negative feedback for the two items. They indicated that all I had to do was e-mail them and they would have quickly responded. However, I did email them and I did it several times. They were lying through their teeth in that feedback comment. But now I realize why they did that vile act. Being that I left neutral feedback while they left negative, it made me look like the bad guy, and it also affects my feedback score while theirs was unaffected. After leaving me that feedback and putting me in a bad position, they sent a request to withdraw feedback. By withdrawing feedback they were asking to pull both their feedback and my own, so that no feedback would be left regarding the items. Therefore, by giving me negative feedback, they were urging me to seek to withdraw the feedback in the long run. The only reason why this could possibly be true is because they didn't want neutral feedback that showed that the items they gave did not work and that they were willing to refund money. They played me like a game in order that they might not look too bad in the end.

Well, despite being played, I hope that in the future people will Google Accuniverse and find this blog post and see that they are not worthy of the consumer people's business. The simple truth of the matter is their phones didn't work because they came from different locations from around the world. They said it would work with Cingular/AT&T, but in truth it would have only theoretically worked with T-Mobile. I say theoretically because I don't have T-Mobile and was unable to test out that theory. However, I do have Cingular, and neither phones could hold a call. It would be scratchy and fuzzy and then drop. The phones were bogus. Also, in my own defense I did email Accuniverse. In all there were about 55 email corespondences between Accuniverse and myself. Fifty-five total emails! And they had the nerve to say that I didn't email them? Why don't you see it for yourself below. I have them all saved on my computer still.

Accuniverse is a scam. They are unprofessional, they are liars, and they sell bogus product. Buyers beware of Accuniverse!

This photo shows quite a bit of email correspondence, does it not?

This photo shows that I won the item, which was a black Motorola SLVR L6. I received one of these for the matching pink one as well.

This photo shows that I am having problems, so I contact the seller immediately.

This photo shows the response from Accuniverse. They neglected to tell me up front that I would have to re-write the network on the phone in order to use the media-related features, such as picture and text messaging. Accuniverse sent me the network information so that I could fix it myself on both phones.

This photo shows that I wanted to know if the information sent to me from Accuniverse would also fix a few other problems I was having with the phones, such as the phone was always in roaming when it shouldn't have been, and it kept switching from Cingular to T-Mobile to No Service to Emergency Only.

This photo shows that I am indicating to the seller that I am unhappy with the purchase since it is not performing as indicated in the item description. I request to either get a phone that would work or to get my money refunded for the two phones.

In this photo I tell the seller that I simply want a refund.

This photo shows that Accuniverse told me I have to fill out a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form for both of the phones.

This is the information emailed to me after I completed the RMA form for one of the phones.

This is the information sent to me from Accuniverse after I finished the RMA form for the second phone.

This photo shows that one of my RMAs had been processed and approved. Note that I never received a second confirmation as I did for the first phone.

This photo shows that Accuniverse canceled the first purchase--the black SLVR.

This photo shows Accuniverse looking out for themselves although they mask it by giving the impression that they are looking out for me, the buyer, too.

This photo shows that the black SLVR purchase is closed.

At this point, I have been refunded for the black phone, but not for the pink SLVR. This photo shows me asking when I will be refunded for the pink phone since I have sent them the phone with the black SLVR, which I knew they had received, otherwise I would not have been refunded for the black phone.

Now I begin to get really mad. This photo shows that Accuniverse not only received the pink SLVR, but they were telling me that I only filed one RMA (see above; I did in fact file two). As you can also see in the photo, they ask me if I would like a refund. So I reply, saying that I would like a refund.

This photo shows a reply that I sent to an automated reply from Accuniverse. In this reply, I heatedly reply that it has been more than two days since I sent them my reply that I would like a refund. At this point I was beginning to think that I was being given the runaround and that I was not going to get my money back for the second phone. So, I told them that they had until the next day to contact me before I would open a complaint with Paypal, since I paid them through that company's service.

This photo shows Accuniverse's response to the reply directly above. At this point I am livid. I know that I am being given the runaround.

I reply to their question, "What is this regarding?" with the content that you see in this photo. I copied and pasted the information that Accuniverse sent me from the second RMA that I filed and told them that I filed the RMA for the pink SLVR and never received a response or a refund.

Accuniverse responds saying that I have been refunded, as you see in this photo. However, I had not yet been refunded for the pink SLVR; what they were referring to was the black SLVR. They were switching contexts in attempt, I believe, to get me off their case.

This photo, although is styled differently, has a similar question to what we have already seen before, doesn't it? The seller asks me again what I would like to do in regard to the pink SLVR. I am at this point tired of telling them. It is obvious that email correspondence is not working with Accuniverse and I would have to take matters into my own hands.

I responded and told them that I would like to be refunded. They respond, as you can see in this photo, by saying I should check my Paypal account because they have refunded me already. This was not the case.

This photo reveals my response to the email from the previous photo. I told them that I had not been refunded. At this point I bring up the fact that I never received a confirmation that the purchase of the pink SLVR was ever canceled and closed on Ebay.

This photo shows Accuniverse's response to the email from the previous photo. They again switch contexts and say that they already gave me back my money for the black SLVR, but I have been asking about the pink one!

I respond in this photo by basically saying, "Yeah, you gave me my money back for the black SLVR, but what about the pink one?"

This photo shows my confirmation with Paypal that I have opened a complaint with Accuniverse so that I can quickly get things taken care of--i.e., get a full refund for my pink SLVR.

This photo shows that two days after I filed my complaint with Paypal I received a full refund from Accuniverse.

Well, I wish I would have taken the picture of the feedback that was left me, but at this point it no longer matters because it has been withdrawn alongside the feedback that I gave Accuniverse, which was neither bad nor good.

Buying from Accuniverse was a nightmare. Buyers beware, whether on Ebay or not, Accuniverse has poor customer service, is not looking out for the customer, and likes to give the runaround. I would not recommend anyone to purchase from them, unless of course you want to risk buying a bogus problem and then spend the next month and a half attempting with no guarantee to get your money back.

Psalm 86:11

This video is a short devotional from Psalm 86:11. If you ever wondered what Hebrew sounds like, this video is just for you, because I read Psalm 86:11 in Hebrew for you. A brief explanation and a translation accompanies the reading of the Hebrew text, which is followed by a short prayer.

The New iPod Line-Up = Amazing

Apple introduced their new iPod line and it sure looks good. The Shuffle remains practically the same but the Nano has undergone some changes in appearance and size alongside the addition of video capabilities. The Classic has an all metal casing with two different drives--the 80 GB and now the 160 GB. New for the iPod line-up is the iPod Touch, which is quite similar to the iPhone in functionality and appearance, with the one major difference being the Touch can't make phone calls. The Touch does have Wi-Fi functionality, however. If you are in the market for something to listen to music and watch videos with, the Nano, Classic or Touch might be just right for you. Go check 'em out!

Currently Reading: The Gospels and Jesus

I am currently reading Stanton's The Gospels and Jesus in an effort to get ahead of the game for my New Testament class that will be starting in a few weeks. I have to read this book and give a critique of it later. It is my hope that I will finish this book by the end of the next weekend and then write the critique early next week and have it completed. When I complete the critique I will post it up on here.
